ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Board of SASAE is planning to hold the 2011 Annual Conference in The Northern Cape, May 30 - June 2, 2011. The theme of the conference is. "The Role of Agricultural Extension In Rural Development”.

Rural development has become the buzz word of the day. But how wide do the arms of rural development go? Is there a difference between rural development and agricultural development? Does extension have a role to play in rural development? How does rural development impact on the clients (farmers) we are serving? Will it bring about a new kind of client? During this conference the aim is to find answers to these questions and many others around rural development.

This Conference will provide an opportunity to share research findings and different approaches to rural development and to create a more sustainable world for future generations.
To facilitate this process, contributions relating to any of the following sub-themes are invited:

The role of the broader community (municipality) in rural development
